Enabling Machine Check Architecture (MCA) recovery-IO

This topic describes how to enable the Machine Check Architecture (MCA) recovery–IO function.


Enable the Machine Check Architecture (MCA) recovery-IO function using basic input/output system (BIOS) programs.

The Machine Check Architecture (MCA) recovery-IO function is used for integrating Input Output (IO) error reports to the MCA architecture. After the function is enabled, the system centrally processes IO device errors. This function is disabled by default.

Impact on the System

This operation has no adverse impact on the system.



You have accessed BIOS. For details, see 2.1 .


Data preparation is not required for this operation.


  1. Choose IntelRCSetup > Runtime Error Logging and press Enter.

    The Runtime Error Logging screen appears, as shown in Figure 3-19.

  2. Select System Errors and press Enter, as shown in Figure 3-19.
  3. Select Enable from the shortcut menu.
  4. Select Enable IOMCA on IIO and press Enter, as shown in Figure 3-20.

  5. Choose Enable from the shortcut menu to enable Enable IOMCA on IIO.
  6. Enable EMCA Logging Support using the same method of enabling Enable IOMCA on IIO.
  7. Press F10.

    The Exit Saving changes? dialog box appears.

  8. Select Yes to save the settings.
