Enabling or Disabling CMCI

This topic describes how to enable or disable the Corrected Machine Check Interrupt (CMCI) function.


Enable or disable the CMCI function using basic input/output system (BIOS) programs.

A CMCI is an interrupt triggered by a correctable error and is used to predict component faults. After the CMCI function is enabled, the operating system (OS) collects correctable error information and corrects errors. This function is enabled by default.

This operation has no adverse impact on the system.



You have accessed basic input/output system (BIOS). For details, see 2.1 .


Data preparation is not required for this operation.


  1. Choose IntelRCSetup > Runtime Error Logging and press Enter.

    The Runtime Error Logging screen appears, as shown in Figure 3-1.

  2. Select CMCI and press Enter, as shown in Figure 3-1.
  3. From the short-cut menu that appears, choose Enable to enable CMCI or choose Disable to disable CMCI.
  4. Press F10.

    The Exit Saving changes? dialog box appears.

  5. Select Yes to save the settings.
