This document describes the appearance, specifications, parameters, and structure of the RH5885 V3, and how to install an OS, replace parts, and install, remove, configure, and troubleshoot the server.

Configuring the BIOS


Configure the BIOS for the RH5885 V3 in remote control mode.

The configuration items are as follows:

  • Server boot mode
  • Network drive
  • Preboot Execute Environment (PXE) on the network interface card (NIC)



  • The RH5885 V3 is powered on.
  • You have logged in to the iMana WebUI




Figure 7-7 shows the process for configuring the BIOS.

  1. Restart the server.

    1. Click on the menu bar that is in the real-time server desktop.
    2. Select Graceful Reboot.

      The system displays "Are you sure to perform this operation?"

    3. Click Yes.

      The server restarts.

    4. When the basic input/output system (BIOS) startup screen appears, press Del to access the BIOS Setup Utility screen.

      The server restart duration varies according to the configurations. For example, if a server is fully configured with forty-eight 8 GB DIMMs without any RAID controller card, the server takes 8 minutes to restart.

    5. Enter a password as prompted.
      • The default BIOS password is Huawei12#$ for the American keyboard, Huqzei&é34 for the French keyboard, and Huawei12£$ for the English keyboard.
      • If an incorrect BIOS password is entered for three consecutive times, the BIOS is locked. You can press Ctrl+Alt+Del to unlock the BIOS.

  2. Set the server boot priority.

    Choose Boot.

    The Boot screen appears, as shown in Figure 7-8.

    Boot options are displayed under FIXED BOOT ORDER Priorities based on the preset priority. The default boot sequence is HDD > CDROM > BEV > OTHERS.

  3. Select the boot options to be configured.

    Press + or - to change the boot sequence. Select BEV and press + to the Boot Option #1 to set the first boot option.

    The display order of the boot options indicates the boot order.

    • Press + to select the previous boot option.
    • Press - to select the next boot option.

  4. Configure the PXE.

    1. Select the Boot tab.

      The Boot scree is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-8.

    2. Select PXE1 Configuration, or PXE2 Configuration and press Enter.
    3. Choose Enable from the shortcut menu and press Enter to enable the PXE function for the specified network port.

  5. Set the BIOS password.

    1. Select the Security tab.

      The Security screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 7-9.

    2. Select Administrator Password and press Enter. Set an administrator password.
      • The administrator password must be a string of 8 to 16 characters, and must contain special characters (including spaces), uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and digits.
      • The default BIOS password is Huawei12#$ for the American keyboard, Huqzei&é34 for the French keyboard, and Huawei12£$ for the English keyboard.
    3. (Optional) After the setting, select Clear Administrator Password to clear the password.
    4. Press F10.

      The Save configuration and exit? dialog box appears.

    5. Select Yes and press Enter to save the setting.
