Installing the RAID Controller Card

Installing the RAID Controller Card

  1. Power off the server. For details, see Powering On and Off the RH5885 V3. Remove all power cables.
  2. Remove the chassis cover of the RH5885 V3. For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.
  3. Remove the riser card tray above the RAID controller card. For details, see Removing the Riser Card.
  4. Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves. For details, see Safety Instructions.
  5. Take the spare RAID controller card out of the ESD bag.
  6. (Optional) Remove the rubber plugs from the ports on the RAID controller card if any. See Figure 5-49.

  7. Align the connector on the RAID controller card with the port on the mainboard, and insert the RAID controller card slowly into the mainboard. See step (1) in Figure 5-50.

  8. Screw the RAID controller card to secure it. See step (2) in Figure 5-50.
  9. Use cables to connect Ports A and B on the hard disk backplane to Ports A and B on the RAID controller card respectively. See step (3) in Figure 5-50.

    • Figure 5-50 shows the cable connections of an RH5885 V3 with 8 or 23 hard disks.
    • On the hard disk backplane of an RH5885 V3 with eight SAS HDDs, SATA HDDs, or SSDs and four NVMe PCIe SSDs, 1 indicates Port A and 2 indicates Port B. Connect Ports A and B on the hard disk backplane to Ports A and B on the RAID controller card respectively.

  10. Power on the RH5885 V3. For details, see Powering On and Off the RH5885 V3.
  11. Log in to the RAID configuration screen to check whether RAID configuration needs to be imported or activated. For details, see Huawei V2 and V3 Server RAID Controller Card User Guide.
