Installing the Hard Disk Backplane (12-Bay Server)

  1. Power off the server. For details, see Powering On and Off the RH5885 V3. Remove all power cables.
  2. Remove the chassis cover of the RH5885 V3. For details, see Removing the Chassis Cover.
  3. Remove all hard disks from the RH5885 V3. For details, see Removing a SATA HDD, SAS HDD, or SSD.
  4. Remove all fan modules from the RH5885 V3. For details, see Removing a Fan Module.
  5. Remove the air duct of the RH5885 V3. For details, see Removing the Air Duct.
  6. Remove the beam of the RH5885 V3. For details, see Removing the Beam.
  7. Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves. For details, see Safety Instructions.
  8. Take the spare hard disk backplane out of its ESD bag.
  9. Connect the hard disk backplane to the mainboard, RAID controller card, and PCIe adapter using cables. See step (1) in Figure 5-92.

    For details about the cable connections, see "Internal Cabling" of each server model in Product Overview. Connect the SSD0, SSD1, SSD2, and SSD3 ports on the hard disk backplane to the SSD0, SSD1, SSD2, and SSD3 ports on the PCIe adapter using cables respectively.

  10. Hook the hard disk backplane, and move it downwards as far as it will go. See step (2) in Figure 5-92.
  11. Tighten the screws on the hard disk backplane. See step (3) in Figure 5-92.
