Checking the RH5885 V3

Scenarios

Log in to the iMana 200 CLI or WebUI to check the health status of the RH5885 V3. Ensure that its health status meets the environment requirements for software installation.

Prerequisites

Conditions

The RH5885 V3 is powered on.

Data

  • You have obtained the user names and passwords for logging in to the RH5885 V3 iMana 200 CLI and WebUI.
  • You have obtained the IP address for the RH5885 V3 iMana 200 management network port.

Workflow

Check the RH5885 V3 by following the sequence described in Figure 7-2. Determine the checking method based on actual site requirements.

Procedure

  1. Observe the RH5885 V3 indicator status, and check that hardware devices are operating properly.

    Indicator status descriptions:

  2. Log in to the iMana 200 over the CLI.

    1. Set an IP address for the PC, and ensure that the IP address is on the same network segment as the iMana 200 management network port.
    2. Connect the PC to the RH5885 V3 iMana 200 management network port by using a network cable.
    3. Run the Secure Shell (SSH) tool on the PC, and enter the IP address of the iMana 200 management network port, user name, and password to log in.

  3. Check the RH5885 V3 basic information on the CLI.

    1. View the RH5885 V3 version information.

      Check that the RH5885 V3 versions meet the site requirements.

    4. Clear alarms by referring to the Huawei Rack Server Alarm Handling (iMana 200).
    NOTE:

    If the query result in Step 3.2 contains "System in health state", skip this step.

  4. Log in to the iMana 200 over the WebUI.

    1. Connect the PC to the RH5885 V3 iMana 200 management network port by using a network cable.
    2. Run Internet Explorer on the PC, enter the IP address of the iMana 200 management network port, user name, and password to log in.

  5. Check the RH5885 V3 basic information on the WebUI.

    1. View the RH5885 V3 version information.

      In the navigation tree, choose System Information > Firmware Version to view server versions, as shown in Figure 7-3.

      Check that the RH5885 V3 versions meet the site requirements.

    2. View the RH5885 V3 health status and alarms.

      In the navigation tree, choose Overview to view server health status, as shown in Figure 7-4.

    3. Clear alarms by referring to the Huawei Rack Server Alarm Handling (iMana 200).
    NOTE:

    If the query result in Checking the RH5885 V3 indicates that no alarm is generated for the server, skip this step.
