Connecting a Power Cable

Connecting a Power Cable

  • The power cable must be securely connected.
  • To ensure device and human safety, use the dedicated power cables.
  • A power cable is used only for specified servers. Do not use power cables for other devices.

Procedure

  • Connect an AC power cable.
    1. Connect the one end of the AC power cable to the power port on the PSU of the RH5885 V3.
      • If the PSU has a velcro strap, use the velcro strap to bind the power cable to the middle of the PSU handle after connecting the power cable to the PSU to prevent power cable poor contact or disconnection. See Figure 3-25.
Figure 3-25 Connecting a power cable (secured with the PSU using a velcro strap)
      • If the PSU has a plastic clip, perform the following steps to connect the power cable:
        1. Open the plastic clip and place the power cable in the plastic clip. See step (1) in Figure 3-26. Then close the plastic clip. See step (2) in Figure 3-26.
Figure 3-26 Connecting a power cable (secured with the PSU using a plastic clip)
        2. Open the lock of the plastic clip. See a of step (3) in Figure 3-26. Slide the plastic clip towards the PSU socket to ensure that the plastic clip is close to the connector of the power cable. See b of step (3) in Figure 3-26.
    2. Insert the other end of the AC power cable into the AC power socket on the rack. The AC power socket is horizontally secured on the rear of the rack. Select the jacks on the nearest socket for connection based on the installation plan.
    3. Bind the power cable to the cable trough using cable ties.
  • Connect a DC power cable.
    1. Connect the OT terminal of the negative electrode to the terminal NEG(-) of the PSU, and connect the OT terminal of the positive electrode to the terminal RTN(+) of the PSU. See step (1) in Figure 3-27.

    2. Connect the other end of the power cable to the DC power distribution frame (PDF) based on the power cable connection rules.
    3. Bind the power cable to the cable trough using cable ties.
