This section describes the applicable scenario of MLD.

Typical MLD Application

MLD runs between member hosts and directly connected multicast routers to manage and maintain multicast group memberships. To forward multicast data from multicast sources to receivers, multicast routers must run Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) IPv6 to set up forwarding paths. Figure 8-41 illustrates a typical MLD network topology.

Hosts dynamically join multicast groups through ASM.

Enable MLDv1 or MLDv2.
