Networking Requirements

As shown in Figure 12-37, Switch A is connected to the Layer 2 network and Layer 3 router. Switch A prevents broadcast storms caused by a large number of broadcast packets, multicast packets, or unknown unicast packets forwarded at Layer 2.

Configuration Roadmap

The roadmap of configuring traffic suppression is as follows:

  1. Configure traffic suppression in the view of 10GE1/17/1 to prevent broadcast storms caused by a large number of broadcast packets, multicast packets, or unknown unicast packets forwarded at Layer 2 and prevent broadcast storms.

Procedure

  1. Enter the interface view.

    [~SwitchA] interface 10ge 1/17/1

  2. Configure traffic suppression for broadcast packets. Configure CIR to suppress broadcast packets. The maximum rate of broadcast packets is 100 kbit/s.

  3. Configure traffic suppression for multicast packets. Configure the percentage of bandwidth occupied by multicast packets. The maximum percentage value is 80%.

  4. Configure traffic suppression for unknown unicast packets. Configure CIR to suppress unknown unicast packets. The maximum rate of unknown unicast packets is 100 kbit/s.
