Maintaining MSTP

Maintaining MSTP

This section describes how to maintain MSTP.

Clearing MSTP Statistics

Context

MSTP statistics cannot be restored after being cleared.

Procedure

  • Run the reset stp [ interface interface-type interface-number ] statistics command to clear spanning-tree statistics.

Monitoring the Statistics on MSTP Topology Changes

The statistics about MSTP topology changes can be viewed. If the statistics increase, network flapping occurs.

Procedure

  • Run the display stp [ process process-id ] [ instance instance-id ] topology-change command to view the statistics about MSTP topology changes.

In the case of a non-zero process, the stp process process-id command must be used to create a process before the display stp [ process process-id ] [ instance instance-id ] topology-change command is used.

  • Run the display stp [ process process-id ] [ instance instance-id ] [ interface interface-type interface-number | slot slot-id ] tc-bpdu statistics command to view the statistics about Topology Change/Topology Change Notification (TC/TCN) packets.

In the case of a non-zero process, the stp process process-id command is used.
