Maintaining IGMP

Maintaining IGMP

You can clear IGMP group memberships, clear IGMP packet statistics, and monitor IGMP running status.

Clearing IGMP Group Memberships

Context

After IGMP group memberships are cleared, group members may fail to receive multicast data. Therefore, confirm your operation before clearing IGMP group information.

Procedure

  • Run the reset igmp group { all | interface interface-type interface-number { all | group-address [ mask { group-mask | group-mask-length } ] [ source-address [ mask { source-mask | source-mask-length } ] ] } } command in the user view to clear information about dynamic IGMP entries on interfaces.
  • Run the undo igmp static-group { all | group-address [ inc-step-mask { group-mask | group-mask-length } number group-number ] [ source source-address ] } command in the interface view to clear static group memberships.
  • Run the reset igmp group ssm-mapping { all | interface interface-type interface-number { all | group-address [ mask { group-mask | group-mask-length } ] } } command in the user view to clear group memberships established with IGMP SSM mapping.

Clearing IGMP Packet Statistics

Context

To view accurate statistics about IGMP control packets within a period, clear the existing statistics first.

Statistics about IGMP control packets cannot be restored after you clear them. Confirm your action before clearing the statistics.

Procedure

  • Run the reset igmp control-message counters [ interface interface-type interface-number ] [ message-type { query | report } ] command in the user view to clear IGMP control packet statistics.

Monitoring IGMP Running Status

Context

To check the IGMP running status during routine maintenance, run the following display commands in any view.

Procedure

  • Run the display igmp group [ group-address | interface interface-type interface-number ]* [ verbose ] command to check information about the members that have dynamically joined a multicast group.
  • Run the display igmp group [ group-address | interface interface-type interface-number ]* static [ verbose ] command to check information about members of a static multicast group.
  • Run the display igmp interface [ interface-type interface-number | up | down ] [ verbose ] command to check the IGMP configuration and running information on an interface.
  • Run the display igmp group [ group-address | interface interface-type interface-number ]* ssm-mapping [ verbose ] command to check information about group memberships established with SSM mapping.
  • Run the display igmp ssm-mapping { group [ group-address ] | interface [ interface-type interface-number ] } command to check SSM mapping entries configured and whether SSM mapping is enabled on an interface.
  • Run the display igmp control-message counters [ interface interface-type interface-number ] [ message-type { query | report } ] command check statistics about IGMP messages.
  • Run the following commands to check statistics about invalid IGMP messages and detailed information about these messages.

    • Run the display igmp invalid-packet [ interface interface-type interface-number | message-type { leave | query | report } ]* command to check statistics about invalid IGMP messages.
    • Run the display igmp invalid-packet [ packet-number ] verbose command to check detailed information about latest invalid IGMP messages received on the device.
