Introduction to Multicast Network Management

Introduction to Multicast Network Management

A multicast MIB manages multicast information exchanged between the NMS and managed devices.

At present, with the increasingly wide application of IP multicast, the requirement for managing multicast networks becomes more exigent. After multicast network management is enabled, you can manage multicast switch moduless through the Network Management Station (NMS).

By means of the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Multicast Management Information Base (MIB) manages multicast information exchanged between the NMS and agents. Multicast MIB supports the basic SNMP operations, such as Get-Request, GetNext-Request, Set-Request, and Trap.
