Configuring the FCoE

This topic describes how to configure the fibre channel over Ethernet (FCoE) features on the CX311 to enable data exchange between the network interface cards (NICs) on compute nodes and the disk array.

Prerequisites

Before configuring the FCoE features, ensure that the following prerequisites are met:
  • The device is operating properly, users can locally or remotely log in to the device.
  • The NIC operating mode is set to the FCoE mode.
  • The disk array is connected to the FC optical port on the CX311 panel.

Configuration Process

You perform the following configuration tasks in sequence based on site requirements:
  • Configure global FCoE feature data.
  • Configure the FCoE features for ports of the CX311 service plane and NICs on compute nodes.
  • Configure the FCoE feature for ports of the CX311 service plane and FCoE gateway.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view to go to the system view.
  2. Run fcoe link sync to configure the FCoE link synchronization.
  3. Run fcoe dual-fabric enable to enable protocol packet isolation.
  4. Run fcoe fc-instance-name to create an FC instance and go to the FCoE view.
  5. Run vlan vlan-id to add the FCoE VLAN to the FC instance.
  6. Run commit.
  7. Run interface interface-type interface-number to go to the interface view for configuring the port role (the port is connected to a compute node).
  8. Run port link-type { access | dot1q-tunnel | hybrid | trunk } to set the type of the port on a compute node to hybrid.
  9. Run port hybrid tagged vlan { { vlan-id1 [ to vlan-id2 ] }&<1-10> | all } to add the port that connects a compute node to the FCoE VLAN.
  10. Run interface interface-type interface-number to go to the interface view for the port that connects to the FCoE gateway.
  11. Run port link-type { access | dot1q-tunnel | hybrid | trunk } to set the type of the port that connects to the FCoE gateway to trunk.
  12. Run port trunk allow-pass vlan { { vlan-id1 [ to vlan-id2 ] }&<1-10> | all } to add the port that connects to the FCoE gateway to the FCoE VLAN.
  13. Run lldp tlv-disable { basic-tlv { all | management-address | port-description | system-capability | system-description | system-name } | dot1-tlv { all | port-vlan-id | protocol-vlan-id [ vlan-id ] | vlan-name [ vlan-id ] } | dot3-tlv { all | link-aggregation | mac-physic | max-frame-size | eee } } to delete basic-tlv in Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) packets.
  14. Run lldp tlv-disable { basic-tlv { all | management-address | port-description | system-capability | system-description | system-name } | dot1-tlv { all | port-vlan-id | protocol-vlan-id [ vlan-id ] | vlan-name [ vlan-id ] } | dot3-tlv { all | link-aggregation | mac-physic | max-frame-size | eee } } to delete dot1-tlv in LLDP packets.
  15. Run lldp tlv-disable { basic-tlv { all | management-address | port-description | system-capability | system-description | system-name } | dot1-tlv { all | port-vlan-id | protocol-vlan-id [ vlan-id ] | vlan-name [ vlan-id ] } | dot3-tlv { all | link-aggregation | mac-physic | max-frame-size | eee } } to delete dot3-tlv in LLDP packets.
  16. Run fcoe role vnp to configure the port role to VNP-Port. This port is connected to the FCoE gateway.
  17. Run commit.

Checking the Configuration Result

Perform the following steps to check the configuration result:

  1. Run system-view to go to the system view.
  2. Run display fcoe session [ fcoe-mac ] [ enode enode-mac | fcf fcf-mac | vlan vlan-id | interface interface-type interface-number ] * [ verbose ] to check whether the FCoE session is created.
  3. Run display fcoe fip statistics [ fc-instance-name ] to check whether the FCoE negotiation packets are sent properly.
