This section describes common configuration errors of DLDP.

DLDP Cannot Discover a Directly Connected Neighbor

Common Cause

This fault is commonly caused by one of the following:

  • The link between the local device and directly connected neighbor failed.

  • DLDP is disabled on the peer device.

  • DLDP parameters on the local and the peer devices are different.


  1. Run the display interface interface-type interface-number command to check the status of the interface that cannot discover the peer device.

    • If the interface status is Down, rectify the failure.

    • If the interface status is Up, go to step 2.

  2. Run the display dldp command to see whether DLDP is enabled globally, that is, run the display this command in the interface view to check whether the output information contains the dldp enable field. If so, DLDP has been enabled on the interface; if not, DLDP is disabled on the interface.

    • If DLDP is not enabled globally or on an interface, run the dldp enable command in the corresponding view to enable DLDP.

    • If DLDP is enabled, go to step 3.

  3. Run the display dldp command to check whether the DLDP parameters on the local and peer devices are the same.



    DLDP interval

    Check whether the intervals on both ends are the same. If the intervals for sending DLDP packets on both ends are different, run the dldp interval interval command in the system view on both devices to set the same interval on both devices.

    DLDP authentication-mode

    Check whether authentication modes and passwords on both ends are the same. If the two devices use different authentication modes or passwords, run the dldp authentication-mode { md5 md5-password | simple simple-password | none } command in the system view to set the same authentication mode and password on both devices.
