Configuration Task Summary

Configuration Task Summary

The multicast VLAN replication can be configured in different methods depending on the application scenario.

Table 8-100 lists multicast VLAN replication configuration tasks.

Table 8-100 Multicast VLAN replication configuration tasks
Scenario Description Task
Configuring multicast VLAN replication based on user VLANs

User VLAN-based multicast VLAN replication is the core of the multicast VLAN function. The upstream device only needs to replicate and send multicast data for the switch modules configured with a multicast VLAN. The switch modules then replicates multicast data and sends the data to different user VLANs. This saves bandwidth between the upstream device and the switch modules.

Configuring interface-based multicast VLAN replication

Bind user VLANs and multicast VLANs on user-side interfaces to replicate multicast data for the user VLANs and implement interface-based multicast service isolation. For example, multiple ISPs provide multicast services on a network. To forward multicast data from an ISP to subscribers in a single user VLAN, configure interface-based multicast VLAN on the switch modules.
