This section provides configuration examples of priority re-marking.

Networking Requirements

On a data center network shown in Figure 13-38, tenant servers send packets through access switch Switch Module and core switch Switch ModuleA, and connect to the Internet through egress routers.

Packets sent by tenant servers to the Switch Module are identified by VLAN IDs, and packets from servers of tenant 1 and tenant 2 carry VLAN 10 and VLAN 20 respectively. It is required that the CoS of tenant 1 be higher than that of tenant 2 to ensure service experience of tenant 1.

Configuration Roadmap

802.1p priorities are re-marked to implement differentiated services. The configuration roadmap is as follows:
  1. Create VLANs on the Switch Module and configure interfaces so that the Switch Module can connect to tenants and Switch ModuleA.
  2. Configure traffic classifiers on the Switch Module to classify packets based on VLAN IDs.
  3. Configure traffic behaviors on the Switch Module to re-mark priorities in packets from tenant 1 with 4 and priorities in packets from tenant 2 with 2 so that packets from tenant 1 have higher priority than packets from tenant 2.
  4. Configure a traffic policy on the Switch Module, bind the configured traffic behaviors and traffic classifiers to the traffic policy, and apply the traffic policy to 10GE1/17/1 and 10GE1/17/2 in the inbound direction so that packets sent from tenants are re-marked.

Procedure

  1. Create VLANs and configure interfaces.
