Preparing a Configuration File Template Using the Network Planning Tool

If no configuration file templates are available for the version to be deployed, you can prepare one using the network planning tool for use in system deployment.


System deployment parameters and IP addresses have been planned.


  1. Obtain the network planning tool.

    Refer to Obtaining Network Planning Tool to download the network planning tool corresponding to the software.

  2. Decompress Then double-click OceanStor 9000 Network Planning Tool.jar to run the tool.
  3. Fill in the project planning information.

    This example in this section is for reference only.

    1. Choose Project > New. The New project window is displayed.
    2. Enter the project information, as shown in Figure 5-1.

      • In Project Information, enter Project Name.
      • In Project Type, select Create a OceanStor DFS project by self-defining the number of devicesCreate an OceanStor S3 and OceanStor DFS project by specifying the number o....
      • In Cluster Information, enter Cluster Name.

    3. Click Next. The Select the number of devices page is displayed. Fill in the number of devices required for the project, as shown in Figure 5-2.

      • In Cabinet Quantity, fill in the number of cabinets deployed. The tool automatically generates KVM Quantity based on the number that you filled in.
      • In Switch parameters, select the network type to be used by the project. For example, select Front-end 2*10GE, back-end 2*10GE. The tool automatically calculates the numbers of different switches required.
      • In Node information, enter the number of nodes deployed. In Service type, select a type based on the actual service type.
        Enter the information in number of SSDs per node based on service requirements. For the node type that is not involved, retain the default settings. For example, if P25 is not involved, the default value will be 1. Retain the default value and do not manually change it.

    4. Click Finish. A Design Hardware Layout is automatically generated, as shown in Figure 5-3.

    5. Click Design Data Network. The Automatic Network Design window is displayed. Fill in information for each network segment based on the IP address planning, as shown in Figure 5-4.

      • InfoEqualizer DNS is the DNS proxy service IP address for implementing InfoEqualizer. The IP address belongs to the front-end service segment.
      • WushanFS OM management IP address is the Management IP address of the OceanStor 9000, that is, the IP address for logging in to the DeviceManager.
      • Data redundancy ratio is the number of the redundant stripes. The data redundancy ratio is the default ratio of each directory in the OceanStor 9000.

    6. Click Finish. A Design Data Network step is automatically generated, as shown in Figure 5-5.


      If you need to modify the default IP address, double-click the IP address that you want to modify. Then modify it in the Modify IP window that is displayed.

  4. Generate the project planning.
    1. Click Export Project. In the dialog box that is displayed, keep default values.
    2. Select Browse and specify a path for saving the exported information. By default, the path is Directory where the tool resides\ExportDoc.
    3. Click OK. The design files are automatically exported to Directory where the tool resides\ExportDoc\Project Name.
