Hardware Configuration

Figure 4-1 shows layout of a Mini-capacity node cabinet.

Figure 4-2 shows layout of a Capacity node cabinet. Nodes in an expansion cabinet are connected to the switches in the base cabinet through optical fibers.

Ports for Node Networking

Figure 4-3 shows the ports for node networking.

Management network

The first three nodes of the OceanStor 9000 cluster provide management ports. These ports are connected to a management switch.

You do not need to assign IP addresses independently for the three ports because the management IP address set for the cluster floats among the three ports.

IPMI

The IPMI is connected to a management switch and is assigned one management network IP address.

Typical Networking Solution

The typical networking solution is:

  • For a Mini-capacity node network, configure three or five nodes in the base cabinet without configuring any expansion cabinet.
  • For a Capacity node network, configure four or nine nodes. When configuring four nodes, deploy them in the base cabinet without configuring any expansion cabinet. When configuring nine nodes, deploy six of them in the base cabinet and the left three in an expansion cabinet.

Figure 4-4 shows the networking solution.

Figure 4-5 shows the layout of ports on CE6800 switches.

  • Downstream ports

    Each CE6800 switch connects to each node through 40 ports in sequence.

    • Switch CE6800-1 connects to port A0-1 on each node.
    • Switch CE6800-2 connects to port A0-0 on each node.
  • Stacking ports

    Stacking ports on two CE6800 switches are connected mutually. The number of used stacking ports is subject to the number of nodes:

    • When the number of nodes is not greater than 16, use two stacking ports.
    • When the number of nodes is greater than 16 but not greater than 24, use three stacking ports.
    • When the number of nodes is greater than 24 but not greater than 40, use four stacking ports.
  • Reserved ports

    Reserved ports are free ports. To prevent adverse impact on working ports, you are advised to run shutdown to disable the reserved ports. For details about the shutdown command, refer to the related switch documentation.

  • ETH management network ports

    Manage switches. Both ETH management network ports are connected to a management switch.

NOTE:

SFP+ high-speed cables are used only for the interconnection among devices in the same cabinet. For the interconnection among devices that reside in different cabinets, use optical fibers.

Figure 4-6 shows the layout of ports on a management switch.

  • Service downstream ports

    Among the 20 service downstream ports, the ones planned for the front-end service ports on nodes are connected to the service ports.

  • IPMI downstream ports

    Among the 20 downstream ports, the ones planned for the IPMIs on nodes are IPMI downstream ports.

  • NIC0 downstream ports

    The three ports are connected in sequence to the first three nodes of the OceanStor 9000 cluster (that is, to nodes 01 to 03 in the base cabinet).

  • 10GE switch management ports

    These ports are connected to the ETH management ports on the two CE6800 switches.

  • Upstream ports

    These ports are connected to the user management network.

  • Reserved ports

    These ports are free ports. To prevent adverse impact on working ports, you are advised to run shutdown to disable them. For details about the shutdown command, refer to the related switch documentation.
