Checking VLAN/IP Address

A physical LAN can be logically divided into multiple isolated VLANs to restrict the transfer of broadcasting packets. Correct VLAN configuration and IP addresses as well as prompt fault diagnosis capability can protect the network security.

A Virtual local area network (VLAN) logically divides a physical local area network (LAN) into multiple broadcast domains. Communication between hosts on one VLAN can be established, but cross-VLAN communication cannot. Therefore, broadcasting packets are restricted in one VLAN. This mechanism enhances network security.

Check for and properly handle abnormal VLAN configuration and IP addresses. For details about how to handle the anomalies, see the related switch operation manuals.

NOTE:

If the network needs to pass through the firewall device, you are advised to bypass the traffic by IP addresses. If you need bypass the traffic by IP addresses and ports, contact Huawei engineers to obtain the port list. Ports used by OceanStor 9000 must not be masked.
