Installing the Device

Overview

For details about the precautions and requirements for device installation, see "Preparing for Installation" in the Hardware Installation and Component Replacement.

S series fixed form-factor devices are available in different dimensions (H x W x D). The installation scenarios and methods vary depending on the dimensions.

This document describes the main device installation scenarios: cabinet mounting, desktop mounting, and wall mounting. For details about installation of remote units (RUs) or in other scenarios, refer to the Hardware Installation and Component Replacement.

Cabinet Mounting

Devices of different dimensions can be installed in a cabinet using mounting brackets, horizontal rack-mounting kits, or trays. This document describes how to install a device using mounting brackets, which vary according to the dimensions of the device. Use the mounting brackets delivered with the device.

1. Use M4 screws to attach mounting brackets to the device.
2. Install floating nuts on the mounting rails of the cabinet.
3. Install the device in the cabinet.

Desktop Mounting

1. Attach four rubber pads to the bottom of the device. (For some models, rubber pads or integrated foot pads have been installed before delivery. In this case, you do not need to install rubber pads.)
2. Place the device gently on the desk.
3. (Optional) Install a security lock to lock the switch to the desk.

Wall Mounting

Depending on device dimensions, the device can be installed on a wall using mounting brackets or without using mounting brackets.

Using mounting brackets:

1. Use M4 screws to attach front mounting brackets to the device.
2. Use a hammer drill with a φ8 drill bit to drill holes on the wall, and mount the device on the wall with expansion bolts.

Without mounting brackets:

1. Mark holes on the wall based on the distance between the two mounting holes on the rear panel of the device, and install mounting screws.
2. Align the mounting holes on the rear of the device with mounting screws and hang the device on the mounting screws.
