Using the Hardware Query Tool and the Hardware Configuration Tool

Figure 1-1 shows the interface of the Hardware Query Tool. You can use this tool to query the power modules, fan modules, optical modules, and cards supported by each switch model, as well as specifications of switches and modules. You can search switch products or modules by part number, product model, or module type.

Figure 1-2 shows the web page of the Hardware Configuration Tool. You can use this tool to calculate the power consumption of a switch.


The heat consumption of a device can be calculated as follows based on its power consumption:

Heat consumption (BTUs per hour) = Power consumption (W) x 3.412
