The ET1D2SFUC000 provides the data plane for the entire system. The data plane provides high-speed and non-blocking data channels for service switching between service modules.

The ET1D2SFUC000 consists of the following functional modules:

  • Switching module: functions as the data plane and provides high-speed service channels for service switching.
  • Local clock module: provides the working clock for the chips of the switching module, management module, and monitoring module on the ET1D2SFUC000.
  • Power supply module: provides power supply for the ET1D2SFUC000.

Basic functions

The ET1D2SFUC000 is core of data switching on the S12704 and S12708.


The ET1D2SFUC000 can have EH1D2VS08000 or ET1D2VQ06000 installed to provide the CSS service.

Redundancy backup

N+1 hot standby

Multiple ET1D2SFUC000 cards can work in N+1 redundancy to improve system reliability. If one of ET1D2SFUC000 cards fails, service traffic on this card is switched to other ET1D2SFUC000 cards, ensuring uninterrupted services.

Usage Constraints

All the SFUs in the same chassis must be the same model.

OFL button


If there are at least two SFUs installed and running properly, before removing one SFU, hold down the OFL button on the SFU until the OFL indicator blinks red or turns steady red. When the OFL indicator turns steady red indicating that the SFU is isolated from the system, you can remove the SFU. When an SFU is running normally, its RUN/ALM indicator blinks green slowly and its OFL indicator is off.


OFL indicator


Steady on: The SFU has been separated from the system and can be removed from the chassis.

Blinking: The SFU is being separated from the system and cannot be removed from the chassis.

Off: The SFU is running properly and cannot be removed from the chassis.


RUN/ALM: running status indicator


Steady on: The card is powered on. If the indicator is steady green for no more than 30 seconds, the CPU is being started. If the indicator is steady green for more than 30 seconds, the software is not running.

Slow blinking: The card software is running properly.

Fast blinking: The card software is starting.


Steady on: The card has failed and the fault requires manual intervention.


Steady on: The card is powered off. (For example, the card has been forcibly powered off using the power off command or is about to start.)
