This topic describes how to configure an IP address for the management network port on the FC switching plane of the CX210.

Set the IP address for the management network port before using it to manage the MX210.The IP address parameter is stored on the MX210.

Using the MM910 WebUI to Set the IP Address

This topic describes how to use the MM910 WebUI to set the IP address of the management network port of the FC switching plane.

Procedure
  1. Log in to the MM910 WebUI.

    For details, see Logging In to the MM910 WebUI.

  2. Choose Chassis Settings > Network Settings > Switch Modules.

    NOTE:

    On the HMM WebUI, "Swi" is changed to "Switch Modules" from verion 6.91A.

  3. Under FC Plane Configuration, click Edit and edit the IP address of the switch module. See Figure 4-2.

  4. Click Save to complete the configuration.

Configuring the IP Address Using the MM910

Use the MM910 to configure an IP address for the management network port on the FC switching plane.

Procedure
  1. Connect the RS232 serial port on the PC to the COM port on the active MM910 by using a DB9-RJ45 cable.

    NOTE:

    The DB9-RJ45 cable is a console cable.

  2. Log in to the MM910 CLI over a serial port.

    Set the following parameters:

    • Speed (baud): 115200
    • Data bits: 8
    • Stop bits: 1
    • Parity: None
    • Flow control: None

  3. Configure the IP address for the management network port.

    smmset -l swiN:fruM -d swipcontrol -v ipaddress maskaddress

    • N: specifies the slot number of the current switch module. Its value ranges from 1 to 4, from left to right mapping to slot numbers 1E, 2X, 3X, and 4E.
    • M: specifies the ID of a switching plane. The value 3 indicates the MX210.
    • ipddress: specifies the IP address of the management network port on the switching plane.
    • maskaddress: specifies the subnet mask of the switching plane.

  4. Configure the gateway of a switching plane. Ensure that the switching plane properly communicates with network which the PC is connected to.

    smmset -l swiN:fruM -d gateway -v gatewayvalue

    The parameter descriptions are displayed as follows:

    • N: specifies the slot number of the current switch module. Its value ranges from 1 to 4, from left to right mapping to slot numbers 1E, 2X, 3X, and 4E.
    • M: specifies the ID of a switching plane. The value 3 indicates the MX210.
    • gatewayvalue: specifies the gateway address of the switching plane.

Configuring the IP Address Using a Serial Port

Use a serial port to configure an IP address for the management network port on the FC switching plane of the CX210.

Context

Table 4-3 describes the default IP address information of the MX210.

NOTE:

IPv6 is disabled by default. Set only the IPv4 IP address information.

The default IP address information can be reset by using the SYS serial port on the front panel of the CX210.

Procedure
  1. Stop all the serial port communication programs running on the management workstation.
  2. Log in to the MX210 CLI over a serial port.

    For details, see Logging In to the MX210 over a Serial Port.

  3. Run the ipAddrSet command the set the information as prompted.

    The information similar to the following is displayed:

    IPv4

    FC_SW:admin> ipaddrset 
    Ethernet IP Address [10.77.77.77]:10.32.53.47 
    Ethernet Subnetmask [255.255.255.0]:255.255.240.0

  4. Run the ipAddrShow command to verify that the IP address information is set properly.
