Logging In to the Switching Plane

Logging In to the Switching Plane

You can log in to the MX210 in any of the following ways:

By default, the administrator name for the MX210 is admin, and the password is Huawei12#$.

Logging In to the MX210 over a Serial Port

Procedure
  1. Use a DB9-RJ45 cable to connect the RS232 serial port of the PC to the SYS serial port on the switch module panel.
  2. Use a serial port communication tool to log in to the MX210.

The key communication parameters are as follows:

    • Serial Line to connect to: COMn
    • Speed (baud): 9600
    • Data bits: 8
    • Stop bits: 1
    • Parity: None
    • Flow control: None
    NOTE:

n indicates the serial port number, and the value is an integer.

This document describes how to use PuTTY to log in over a serial port. For details, see Logging In to the Server Over a Serial Port by Using the PuTTY.

Follow-up Procedure

After logging in to the MX210, you must set the date and time. For details, see Setting Time and Date.

The MX210 supports the Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) function. Based on certain user security policies, the MX210 can prevent unauthorized users from accessing the MX210 or modifying settings.

Logging In to the MX210 Using SSH

Procedure
  1. Connect a terminal (such as a PC) to the management network port of the MM910 by using a network cable.

    • If the MGMT port on the active MM910 is already connected with a network cable, do not remove the network cable from the MGMT port. Otherwise, an active/standby switchover of the MM910s will be triggered, which may cause network interruption.
    • If you want to connect your local PC directly to the MM910 using a network cable but the MGMT port on the active MM910 is already connected with a network cable, connect the network cable from the local PC to the STACK port of the active MM910 in the chassis. If the STACK port on the active MM910 is also used, connect the network cable to an idle STACK port on an active MM910 in a chassis cascaded with the E9000 chassis.

  2. Run the SSH terminal tool on the PC and enter the IP address of the MX210.

For details about how to query the IP address of the MX210, see Configuring an IP Address.

  3. On the login page, enter the user name and press Enter.
  4. Enter the password and press Enter to log in to the MX210 CLI.

Logging In to the MX210 Using Web Tools

Tool

Java plug-in: Free software. Ensure that its version is JRE 1.6.0_24 or later.

Procedure

  2. In the browser address box of the PC, enter https://IP address of the MX210, and press Enter.

The login dialog box is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-3.
