Setting Basic Information Using Commands

Setting Basic Information Using Commands

This topic describes how to configure the basic information about the MX210. The basic information includes the device name, status, and domain ID.

Changing the Device Name

A unique device name helps locate the device quickly on a complicated network. To change the device name for the MX210 switch module, perform the following steps:

Procedure
  1. Log in to the MX210.

For details, see Logging In to the MX210 over a Serial Port and Logging In to the MX210 Using SSH.

  2. Run the switchname command to change the device name.

    FC_SW:admin>switchname xxxx

xxxx indicates the device name to be set.

  3. Run the switchshow command to query the configuration.

    FC_SW:admin>switchshow
    switchName: xxxx
    switchType: 51.2
    switchState: Online
    switchMode: Native
    switchRole: Principal
    switchDomain: 80
    ¡¡¡¡¡¡

    switchName: xxxx indicates the result.

Setting the Device Status

To set the status of the MX210 switch module to enabled or disabled, perform the following steps:

Procedure
  1. Log in to the MX210.

For details, see Logging In to the MX210 over a Serial Port and Logging In to the MX210 Using SSH.

  2. Run the switchenable command to enable the MX210 switch module or run the switchdisable command to disable it.

    Enabling the MX210:

    FC_SW:admin> switchenable

    Disabling the MX210:

    FC_SW:admin> switchdisable

  3. Run the switchshow command to query the configuration.

    FC_SW:admin>swicthshow
    switchName: xxxx
    switchType: 51.2
    switchState: Offline
    switchMode: Native
    switchRole: Principal
    switchDomain: 80
    ¡¡¡¡¡¡

switchState: Offline indicates the result.Online indicates that the MX210 is enabled state, Offline indicates that the MX210 is disabled.

Setting a Domain ID

Reset domain IDs for FC switches on the fabric network.

Context

The domain ID of each FC switch on a fabric network must be unique.

Procedure
  1. Log in to the MX210.

For details, see Logging In to the MX210 over a Serial Port and Logging In to the MX210 Using SSH.

  2. Run the switchdisable command to disable the MX210.
  3. Run the configure command.

    FC_SW:admin>configure

  4. Enter Y.
  5. Enter a domain ID.
