Alarm message:

Failed to obtain data of the air inlet temperature. 

This alarm is generated when the system failed to obtain the air inlet temperature.

Impact on the System

The temperature cannot be monitored. No alarm will be reported when the temperature is not in the normal range.

Possible Causes

  • The iBMC is abnormal.

  • The cable is not properly connected to the component hosting the air inlet temperature sensor.

  • The component holding the air inlet temperature sensor is faulty.

The location of the air inlet temperature sensor varies with the server model. For details, see the user guide of the server you use.

The RH2288H V3 server is used as an example to describe how to clear the alarm. The air inlet temperature sensor is located on the left mounting ear of the RH2288H V3 server. For details, see the RH2288H V3 User Guide.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the iBMC WebUI or CLI.

    For details, see the iBMC user guide of the server.

  2. Restart the iBMC.

    • To restart the iBMC on the WebUI, click Restart iBMC on the Upgrade Firmware page.
    • To restart the iBMC on the CLI, run the ipmcset -d reset command.

  3. After the iBMC starts, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.

    • If no, go to 4.

  4. Remove and reconnect the cable between the component hosting the air inlet temperature sensor and the mainboard. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    The location of the air inlet temperature sensor varies with the server model:
    • 1U rack server: The air inlet temperature sensor is located on the indicator plate.
    • 2U rack server: The air inlet temperature sensor is located on the indicator plate on the left mounting ear.
    • RH5885 V3 or RH5885H V3: The air inlet temperature sensor is located on the right mounting ear.
    • RH8100 V3, 8100 V5, or 5885H V5: The air inlet temperature sensor is on the indicator plate on the left mounting ear.
    For details, see the sensor list in the server user guide.

    In this example, remove and reconnect the cable between the indicator plate on the left mounting ear and the mainboard of the RH2288H V3 server. For details, see "Internal Cabling" in the user guide. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.

    • If no, go to 5.

  5. Replace the cable connected to the component hosting the sensor. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.

    • If no, go to 6.

  6. Replace the component holding the sensor. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    Take the RH2288H V3 as an example, replace the indicator plate on the left mounting ear. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.

    • If no, go to 7.

  7. Contact Huawei technical support.
