Enabling and Disabling Stacking

Enabling and Disabling Stacking

On the S5700EI or S5700SI, run the stack enable or undo stack enable command in the system view to enable or disable stacking. Enabling or disabling stacking takes effect after the switch restarts.
<HUAWEI> system-view
[HUAWEI] stack enable //Enable stacking.
Warning: All the configurations related to the slot ID will be lost after the stack function is enabled. Continue?[Y/N]: y
Info: Stack configuration has been changed, and the device needs to restart to make the configuration effective.
<HUAWEI> system-view
[HUAWEI] undo stack enable //Disable stacking.
Warning: All the configurations related to the slot ID will be lost after the stack function is enabled. Continue?[Y/N]: y
Info: Stack configuration has been changed, and the device needs to restart to make the configuration effective.

On stacking-supporting switches except S5700EI or S5700SI, the stacking function is enabled by default and cannot be disabled using commands.

To disable stacking, delete stack ports or remove stack cables. The following describes the method to delete stack ports:

Versions later than V200R002
<HUAWEI> system-view
[HUAWEI] interface stack-port 0/1
[HUAWEI-stack-port0/1] shutdown interface xgigabitethernet0/0/1 //Set the stack member port to Down to prevent loops.
[HUAWEI-stack-port0/1] undo port interface xgigabitethernet0/0/1 enable //Remove the stack member port XGE0/0/1 from the stack port to restore the member port to a service port.
V200R002 and earlier versions
<HUAWEI> system-view
[HUAWEI] interface stack-port 0/1
[HUAWEI-stack-port0/1] undo port member-group interface xgigabitethernet 0/0/1 //Delete XGE0/0/1 from the stack port.
[HUAWEI-stack-port0/1] quit
[HUAWEI] undo stack port interface xgigabitethernet 0/0/1 enable //Restore XGE0/0/1 to a service port.
