Troubleshooting: STA Roaming Errors Occur
Related Concepts
- Intra-AC roaming: A STA roams from one AP to another AP under the same AC.
- Inter-AC roaming: A STA roams from one AP to another AP under a different AC.
- Reassociation and roaming: Reassociation refers to reassociate a disconnected STA with an AP; service interruptions occur during this process. During roaming, STAs remain connected, so service are not interrupted.
- A STA determines whether to roam. It determines whether to associate with another AP based on signal strength.
Viewing the Roaming Track
- Procedure in the web system:
Choose Monitoring > User > User Statistics > User List, and select a user to view the roaming track.
- Procedure on the CLI:
Command for checking whether a STA roams and the number of roaming times:
[AC6605-wlan-vap-prof-default] display station roam-track sta-mac f06b-ca63-313d Access SSID:Huawei-Wlan Rx/Tx: link receive rate/link transmit rate(Mbps) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ L2/L3 AC IP AP name Radio ID BSSID TIME In Rx/Tx RSSI Out Rx/Tx RSSI ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- 192.168.10.3 dcd2-fcf4-6600 0 dcd2-fcf4-6600 2015/12/03 21:09:33 54/54 -48 44/51 -59 L3 192.168.10.4 ap-10 0 dcd2-fcf4-6760 2015/12/03 20:45:50 65/65 -45 -/- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Number of roam track: 1
An online record is generated when a STA goes online, and a track is added for each roaming.
Roaming Conditions
- The SSIDs are the same in the VAP profiles before and after roaming.
- The security policies are the same in the VAP profiles before and after roaming.
- The authentication information is the same in the VAP profiles before and after roaming.
If roaming faults occur, check the preceding information in VAP profiles.
