Can SSIDs Contain Chinese Characters?
When an SSID is configured using the CLI:
- In versions earlier than V200R006, the SSID cannot contain any Chinese character.
- In V200R006 and later versions, the SSID can contain Chinese characters.
When an SSID is configured on the web platform:
- The SSID cannot contain any Chinese character in versions earlier than V200R006.
- In V200R006, the SSID cannot contain Chinese characters when it is configured according to the configuration wizard. You can choose Configuration > AP Config > Profile > Wireless Service > SSID Profile, and change it to an SSID that contains Chinese characters.
- In versions later than V200R006, the SSID can contain Chinese characters regardless of whether it is configured according to the configuration wizard or on the SSID Profile List page.
You can only use a command editor of the UTF-8 encoding format to edit Chinese characters.
SSIDs containing Chinese characters cannot be displayed on STAs that do not support the UTF-8 encoding format.
