STAs Fail to Roam Between Cloud APs
Symptom
STAs fail to roam between cloud APs.
Possible Causes
- Cloud APs reside at different sites.
- No mobility group is established between cloud APs.
- Cloud APs go online in NAT mode.
Troubleshooting Procedure
- On iMaster NCE-Campus, check whether the cloud APs involved in roaming reside at the same site. STAs cannot roam between APs at different sites.
- Log in to APs before and after roaming, and check whether a mobility group is set up.
[AP-diagnose] display wlan wmg mobility-group MemSet Size: 512, MemSet CurSize: 0, MemSet LocalMemID: - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MemID Local-IP Peer-IP Role IsLoc IsAct IsTun State GrpID Description Time -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GrpSet Size : 32, GrpSet CurSize : 0 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GrpID LocalMemID MemCount Name MemSet[X,X,X,X] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If the value of State in the command output is 2, the inter-AP roaming link is successfully set up.
- If other APs exist in the mobility group but the roaming link fails to be set up, ensure that the APs before and after roaming can ping each other and no NAT configuration exists between the APs.
- If no other AP exists in the mobility group, run the following command in the diagnostic view to check whether the AP has detected neighbors. If not, check the AP's signal strength and whether obstacles or coverage holes exist between APs.

- On the APs before and after roaming, check whether the roaming failure is caused by the NAT configuration of the APs.

- Trace and record the STA's tracks on the AP before and after roaming, and seek technical support.
