Case Study: An AP Is Damaged Due to Electric Leakage in the Installation Environment
Symptom
At a site, an AP is installed on a ceiling. When the AP is working, the switch connected to the AP and other APs connected to the switch are damaged.
Relevant Alarms and Logs
None
Cause Analysis
The live wire of the daylight lamp is connected to the AP mounting bracket through the metal keel on the ceiling. After the lamp is turned on, high voltage is introduced to the AP and switch through the AP mounting bracket, causing damage to the devices.
Procedure
- Check the installation environment, locate the position where strong current leakage occurs, and use insulation tape to wrap the exposed cable.
Suggestion and Summary
If there are strong-current cables above the ceiling or inside the wall, avoid routing near these cables when installing an AP and follow construction specifications to prevent device damage or security accidents caused by strong current leakage.
