Why Is Cross-Version Mapping Between WACs and APs Required?
If cross-version mapping between WACs and APs is not supported, when WACs need to be upgraded to a new version, APs must also be upgraded, and vice versa. This leads to the following issues:
- When APs of different models exist on a WLAN, once an AP model needs to be upgraded to a new version, the WAC and APs of other models must also be upgraded. It generates heavy upgrade workload.
- When APs of a new version are used for capacity expansion on a WLAN, the WAC needs to be upgraded to match the new APs. As a result, the original APs also need to be upgraded, affecting wireless network services.
These issues can be prevented by cross-version mapping between WACs and APs.
