Improper Grounding of Devices
Symptom
A PoE adapter is used to supply power to an outdoor AP at a site. After a surge protector is installed, the PoE failure rate is still high.
Fault Location
The neutral wire of the power cable is short-circuited with the ground cable, and the ground cable is in poor contact. As a result, the surge energy cannot be discharged in time, and the installed surge protector does not provide surge protection.
Solution
Separately connect the neutral wire and ground cable of the strong-current power supply and ensure that the ground impedance of the ground cable is less than 10 ohms.
Summary
When installing an outdoor AP, ensure that the AP is properly grounded and the strong-current power supply is properly grounded. Otherwise, the installed surge protector may fail to provide surge protection.
