Symptom
The transmit power of an optical module tested by an optical power meter is lower than the nominal transmit power.
Possible Causes
- Optical bores of an optical module are contaminated.
- The laser transmission circuit of the optical module is faulty.
Procedure
- Check whether optical bores of the optical module are contaminated. Use a cotton swab to clean the optical bores. Block unused optical modules with fillers.
- Check whether the light emitting circuit of the optical module is faulty. If the optical power is still not normal after the optical module is cleaned, the optical module is faulty. Return the optical module for repair.
