Case Study: STAs Encounter Weak Signals in the Coverage Area Due to Insufficient Antenna Power
Symptom
The signal coverage is poor. There is a possibility that STAs repeatedly associate with and disassociate from an AP that is properly connected.
Relevant Alarms and Logs
None
Cause Analysis
The check result using a Wi-Fi scanning tool shows that the AP9330DN's signals are weak. Based on the antenna connection mode, it is found that antennas are incorrectly connected to the AP9330DN. One radio port is connected to three antennas, causing insufficient power.
Procedure
- As shown in Figure 6-3, an AP9330DN provides indoor coverage for six rooms through dual spatial streams on dual frequency bands.
Suggestion and Summary
Antennas are passive components. Currently, there is no effective method to determine whether an antenna is installed incorrectly or damaged. Therefore, antennas and feeders must be installed strictly according to their installation modes.
