General Power Module Fault Location Procedure

General Power Module Fault Location Procedure

Troubleshooting Flowchart

Figure 10-1 shows the procedure for troubleshooting a power module.

Figure 10-1 Power module troubleshooting flowchart

Procedure

  1. Check the indicator on the power module.

For details about indicator states and meaning of each state, see the CloudEngine 12800 Hardware Description. You can determine the type of the fault based on the indicator state.

  2. Check alarms on the power module and rectify the fault accordingly.

Run the display device alarm hardware command to check whether any alarms have been generated for the power module. If so, rectify the fault according to Table 10-1.

    Table 10-1 Power module alarms

    Alarm

    Description

    Operation

Communication failed between power and CMU

The power module cannot communicate with the CMU.

Replace the power module. If the fault persists, replace the CMU.

Fans For Cooling The Power Supply Module Failed

Fans in the power module have failed.

    1. Power off the faulty power module.
    2. Replace the power module.

    Power Partial Failure

Internal components of the power module are faulty.

    Contact technical support personnel.

Over-input-voltage occurred on the power module

The input voltage of the power module exceeds the upper threshold.

    1. Check whether the external power supply system is working normally.
    2. If the alarm persists, replace the power module.

Under-input-voltage occurred on the power module

The input voltage of the power module is below the lower threshold.

    1. Check whether the external power supply system is working normally. If not, fix the external power supply system.
    2. If the alarm persists, consult technical support personnel whether the power module needs to be replaced.

The power module was installed but not powered on

The power module has been installed but is not powered on.

    1. Check whether the external power supply system is working normally.
    2. If the external power supply is working normally, replace the power module.

Over-output-voltage occurred on the power module

The output voltage of the power module exceeds the upper threshold.

    1. Check whether the external power supply system is working normally. If not, fix the external power supply system.
    2. If the alarm persists, replace the power module.

The output of the power module failed

The power module fails to provide power output.

    1. Check whether the external power supply system is working normally. If not, fix the external power supply system.
    2. If the alarm persists, replace the power module.

    The power module supply failed

The power module is not working.

    1. Check whether the air filter of the power module is clogged. If so, clean the air filter to ensure smooth airflow.
    2. Check whether the switch and equipment room are well ventilated. If the ambient temperature is too high, improve the ventilation.
    3. Check whether the external power supply system is working normally. If not, fix the external power supply system.
    4. If the alarm persists, replace the power module.

The actual power exceeded the rated power

The real-time power of the power module exceeds the rated power.

    1. Check whether the power module is a standard one. If so, go to step 3. If not, go to step 2.
    2. Replace the power module with a standard power module.
    3. Contact technical support personnel.
  3. Collect the following information and contact technical support personnel:
    • Output of the display diagnostic-information command
    • Output of the display device power command
    • Output of the display device power system command
    • Output of the display device alarm hardware command
    • Output of the display alarm history command
    • Output of the display device elabel command
    • Indicator state on the power module
    • Log files and diagnostic log files
