Troubleshooting Procedure

Background

Saving the results of each troubleshooting step is recommended. If your troubleshooting fails to correct the fault, you will have a record of your actions to provide technical support personnel.

Procedure

  1. Check sFlow parameters.

sFlow sampling involves the parameters of sFlow Collector and sFlow sampling on interface.

Run the display sflow configuration [ interface interface-type interface-number ] command in any view to check the sFlow configurations. The sFlow Collector parameters must be set and sFlow sampling must be configured on interface.

    • If sFlow sampling is not configured on an interface, run the sflow sampling { inbound | outbound } command in the interface view to configure sFlow sampling. If the sFlow Collector is not specified on an interface, run the sflow sampling collector collector-id and sflow counter collector collector-id commands in the interface view to specify the sFlow Collector.
    • If the sFlow is correctly configured, but sFlow Collector still cannot receive sFlow sampling packets, proceed to 2.
  2. Check whether there is a reachable route between the device and sFlow Collector.

The device as an sFlow agent samples packets, and sends the packets to the sFlow Collector. Therefore, there must be a reachable route between the device and sFlow Collector.

Run the ping command with the IP address of sFlow Collector as the destination address in any view. If the ping operation fails, reconfigure a route destined to the sFlow Collector. If the sFlow Collector still cannot receive the packets, proceed to 3.

  3. Collect the following information and contact technical support personnel:

    • Results of the preceding troubleshooting procedure.
    • Configuration file, logs, and alarms of the device.
