Links Go Down When CE Switches Are Connected to a Server Through LACP

In the following figure, two CE12800 switches are connected to a server through an LACP-enabled Eth-Trunk.

Figure 13-11 Diagram of the networking on which links go Down when LACP is used to connect to the server

Problem Description

An alarm indicating that LACP links are down is received one to three times each day. The cause is "No LACPDUs were received when the timer expired. Please check link connections or remote interface's status." This indicates that the device does not receive LACP packets from the peer end when the timer expires.

Cause Analysis

On an Eth-Trunk in LACP mode, the server needs to send LACP packets to the peer end at an interval of 3 seconds. According to the server logs, the CPU usage reaches 100% for several times. As a result, the server cannot send LACP packets, interrupting the connection.

You are advised to use the manual load balancing mode. In this mode, protocol packets do not need to be sent periodically.

Enable the manual load balancing mode for the Eth-Trunk.
