DCB Negotiation Fails

DCB Negotiation Fails

Fault Symptom

DCB negotiation fails.

Possible Causes

  • Interfaces are not configured with DCB parameters.

  • Different DCB parameters are configured at both ends.

  • Different DCB versions are configured at both ends.

  • The interface is not configured to send DXBX TLVs.

  • LLDP neighbors do not exist.

  • DCB parameters on the remote end are incorrect.

  • The interface is not Up.

Troubleshooting Roadmap

Check whether DCB parameters are configured correctly.

Procedure

  1. Run the display this command to check whether the local and remote devices are enabled with DCB.

  2. Run the display dcb command to check the PFC and ETS negotiation status.

    • If the PFC or ETS status is displayed as -, configure PFC or ETS.

    • If the PFC or ETS status is displayed as FAILED, run the display dcb fail-record command to check the negotiation failure cause.

The common causes of a negotiation failure and procedure are as follows:

      • Multi neighbor is not supported.

The remote end has multiple LLDP neighbors. Modify the multi-neighbor configuration of the remote end.

      • Neighbor does not exist.

        • The local or remote interface is not Up. Ensure that the connection is correct.

        • LLDP is not enabled. Run the lldp enable command to enable LLDP globally, and run the lldp tlv-enable dcbx command to set the type of the TLV to be advertised by an interface.

        • LLDPDUs time out. Check the link.

      • PFC is not matched.

PFC parameters at both ends are inconsistent. Modify PFC parameters. Run the display dcb status verbose command in the diagnostic view to check the PFC configuration at both ends.

      • ETS is not matched.

ETS parameters at both ends are inconsistent. Modify ETS parameters. Run the display dcb status verbose command in the diagnostic view to check the ETS configuration at both ends.

      • OUI is not matched.

DCBX TLV versions at both ends are inconsistent. Run the dcb compliance intel-oui command on the interface to specify the version of DCBX TLVs sent from the interface.

      • Duplicate TLV is received.

A duplicate TLV exists on the remote end. Modify the TLV configuration of the remote end.

      • Total bandwidth is error.

The total bandwidth assigned to the remote end exceeds the maximum value. Adjust the total bandwidth to the maximum value.
