Why Does the STP Cost Increase After an Eth-Trunk Member Interface Goes Down?

On an STP network, the cost of an Eth-Trunk interface is the sum of the path costs of all member interfaces. A higher interface rate indicates a smaller cost.

When an active Eth-Trunk member interface goes Down, the rate of Eth-Trunk decreases, and therefore the cost increases.
