Checking the Operating Environment

Checking the Operating Environment

Devices can run properly only after the following conditions are met.

Table 4-1 lists the operating environment check items of CE12800 and CE12800E series switches. Table 4-2 lists the operating environment check items of CE8800, CE7800, CE6800, and CE5800 series switches.

Ambient temperature in the equipment room

  • Operating temperature: 0°C to 40°C (0 m to 1800 m)
    NOTE:

When the altitude is between 1800 m and 5000 m, the operating temperature reduces 1°C every time the altitude increases 220 m.

  • Storage temperature: -40°C to +70°C

2

Ambient humidity

Operating relative humidity: 5% RH to 85% RH (noncondensing)

If the relative humidity in the equipment room is high, you may need to install a dehumidifier. If the relative humidity in the equipment room is low, you may need to install a humidifier.

3

Cleaning

  • The device should be clean without visible dust.
  • If the air filter door is covered by dust, clean or replace the dustproof cotton in the air filter door in time; otherwise, the heat dissipation in the chassis is affected.

4

Heat dissipation

  • When a device is working, all fans should operate properly (except for the fans that are being cleaned).
  • The air intake vent is not covered with dust, and heat dissipation in the chassis is normal. If the air filter door is covered with dust, clean it in time. It is recommended to clean the air filter door quarterly.

Power supply system

The power supply system should run stably.
  • Rated voltage: 110 V/220 V AC
  • Rated voltage range: 100 V AC to 120 V AC or 200 V AC to 240 V AC
  • Maximum voltage range: 90 V AC to 290 V AC

5

Grounding and grounding resistance

Working grounding, protection grounding, and surge protection grounding should be arranged separately in the equipment room. Joint grounding can be used if the equipment room is under limited conditions. Grounding is significant especially for outdoor devices because the outdoor devices are possibly struck by thunder.
