Troubleshooting Procedure

Context

After commands are configured to troubleshoot faults, pay attention to the configuration validation mode to ensure that the configurations take effect. Unless otherwise specified, this manual defaults to the two-phase validation mode.

  • In immediate validation mode, the configuration takes effect immediately after you run a command and press Enter.
  • In two-phase validation mode, you must run the commit command after commands are configured to commit the configuration.

Save the results of each troubleshooting step, so you can provide related information to Huawei technical support if your troubleshooting fails.

Procedure

  1. Check whether the STP status of the Eth-Trunk is blocking.

    The interface must work properly so that it can forward traffic. Run the display stp brief command in any view to check the STP State field of the Eth-Trunk to determine whether the Eth-Trunk is in blocking state.

    • If the value of the STP State field is discarding, the Eth-Trunk is in blocking state and cannot forward traffic. Check whether there are loops on the network.

    • If the Eth-Trunk is not in blocking state, go to Step 2.

  2. Check whether the physical status of the Eth-Trunk member interfaces is Up.

    Only the member interface in Up state can be selected as the active interface. Run the display interface interface-type interface-number command in any view to check the physical status of the Eth-Trunk member interface. The current state field refers to the physical status of the interface.

    • If the value of the current state field is UP, the interface works properly. Go to Step 3.

    • If the value of the current state field is not UP, check the physical link and optical module of the Eth-Trunk member interface.

  3. Check whether the configuration of the Eth-Trunk is correct.

    Run the display eth-trunk trunk-id command in any view to check the upper and lower thresholds for the number of active interfaces. Max Active-linknumber indicates the upper threshold for the number of active interfaces, and Least Active-linknumber indicates the lower threshold for the number of active interfaces.

    • If the upper threshold for the number of active interfaces is less than the number of Eth-Trunk member interfaces in Up state, run the lacp max active-linknumber command in the Eth-Trunk interface view to change the upper threshold. If the number of Eth-Trunk member interfaces in Up state is less than the lower threshold for the number of active interfaces, run the least active-linknumber command in the Eth-Trunk interface view to change the lower threshold.

    • If the configuration of the Eth-Trunk is correct, go to Step 4.

  4. Check whether the Eth-Trunk member interface can receive and send LACPDUs.
    1. Check statistics on received and sent LACPDUs.

      1. Run the reset lacp statistics eth-trunk trunk-id command in the user view to clear LACPDU statistics.

        The cleared LACPDU statistics cannot be restored.

      2. Run the display lacp statistics eth-trunk trunk-id command in any view to check statistics on received and sent LACPDUs.

        This command displays packets processed by the LACP module. Normally, the values of LacpRevPdu and LacpSentPdu are not empty.

        • If the value of LacpSentPdu is empty, the LACP module may fail.
        • If the value of LacpRevPdu is empty, check whether the local end receives LACPDUs from the remote end.

    2. Check whether the LACP module is normal.

      If the value of State is NULL, the LACP module fails. Contact technical support personnel.

    3. Check whether ACL rules exist and correct.

      1. Run the display cpu-defend statistics command in any view to check statistics on packets matching ACL rules.

        Normally, the values of Total Passed and Last 5 Min Passed exist, and the statistics increase at intervals. If there are no statistics or the statistics do not exist, check whether ACL rules for LACP exist.

      2. Run the display system tcam service command in the diagnostic view to obtain the EntryID of the ACL rules for LACP.

        The ACL rules for LACP are delivered globally and delivered to each chip once.

        For the CE12800, CE16800 and CE12800E series switch:

      3. Run the fediag command in the diagnostic view to check whether ACL rules are correct.

  5. Check whether lower-layer forwarding entries are correct.

    If LACP negotiation is normal and member interfaces are in selected state but the fault persists, check lower-layer forwarding entries.

    If the forwarding table is empty or there is no forwarding entry matching the interface where traffic forwarding fails, an error occurs in the forwarding table of the Eth-Trunk. Go to Step 6.

  6. Collect the following information and contact technical support personnel.

    • Results of the preceding troubleshooting procedure

    • Configuration file, logs, and alarms of the device
