Failed to Set Up an SVF System Using 10GE Ports When a CE6851HI Functions as a Parent Switch and CE5855EIs Function as Leaf Switches

Keywords

SVF, switch

Abstract

An SVF system fails to be set up using 10GE ports when a CE6851HI functions as a parent switch and CE5855EIs function as leaf switches.

Problem Description

In Figure 18-5, a CE6851HI functions as the parent switch to establish an SVF system with CE5855EIs. Leaf and parent switches are connected using 10GE ports, and leaf switches cannot join the SVF system.

Procedure

Check the SVF configuration of leaf switches. You can view that the type of the uplink ports used by the leaf switches to connect to the parent switch is 40GE instead of 10GE.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Solution

Run the leaf uplink-port type 4*10ge member 1 command in the stack management view of the leaf switches to change the type of the uplink ports used by the leaf switches to connect to the parent switch to 10GE.

Suggestion

By default, leaf switches use some default ports to connect to a parent switch. Before setting up an SVF system, determine the type of the uplink ports used by leaf switches to connect to the parent switch. If the uplink port type does not meet requirements, adjust the uplink port type using the CLI or BIOS menu.
