A Stack Does not Split After the Stack Configuration Is Deleted from the CE12800 and the CE12800 Restarts

Keywords

Stack, split, CE12800, switch

Abstract

A stack does not split after the stack configuration is deleted from the CE12800 and the CE12800 restarts.

Problem Description

Two CE12800 switches are configured in a stack. After some of the stack configuration is deleted and the CE12800 switches restart, the stack still exists.

Procedure

  1. Run the display stack configuration command to check the stack configuration.
    <HUAWEI> display stack configuration
    Oper : Operation
    Conf : Configuration
    *    : Offline configuration
Isolated Port: The port is in stack mode, but does not belong to any Stack-Port

    Attribute Configuration:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
     MemberID Domain Priority Mode Enable
    Oper(Conf) Oper(Conf) Oper(Conf) Oper(Conf) Oper
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
    1(1) 10(10) 150(150) MB(MB) Enable
    2(2) 10(10) 100(100) MB(MB) Enable
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

    Stack-Port Configuration:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Stack-Port Member Ports
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Stack-Port1/1 -
    Stack-Port2/1 -
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The command output shows that the stack port configuration is deleted but the stack function is still enabled and the stack does not split.

  2. Analyze stack logs, finding that member devices are manually restarted using the reboot command instead of automatically restarting after some of the stack configuration is deleted.

This indicates that the stack does not split because the stack function is not disabled after some of the stack configuration is deleted.

Solution

Run the undo stack enable member all command to disable the stack function to make the stack split, and restart the devices. The devices restart without a configuration file.
