Installing a Server Node

This topic describes how to install an XH628 V3 server node.

Operation Scenario


An X6800 chassis can be installed with different models of server nodes or the same type of server nodes with different specifications. If an X6800 chassis needs to be installed with different server nodes, note the following:

  • The operating temperature range decreases to 5°C to 35°C because different server nodes have different wind drag coefficients.
  • If server nodes of different widths need to be installed in an X6800 chassis, the guide rails in the chassis must be adjusted to prevent a damage to the backplane. For example, if XH620 V3 and XH628 V3 or XH622 V3 server nodes need to be installed in an X6800 chassis, contact Huawei technical support.

You need to install a server node in any of the following scenarios:

  • A chassis has been installed.
  • A server node needs to be added.
  • A server node needs to be replaced with a new one.
  • A server node has been repaired.


  1. Preparations
    • A chassis has been installed.
    • The spare server node is ready and placed near the chassis.
  2. Tools

    ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves: used to prevent ESD damage.


  1. Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves.
  2. Take the spare server node out of the ESD bag, and raise the ejector lever.
  3. Horizontally insert the server node into a slot in the chassis, and ensure that the upper side of the ejector lever is fastened to the chassis beam. See step (1) in Figure 3-13.
  4. Lower the ejector lever until its lower side snaps into the spring. See step (2) in Figure 3-13.
