Installing a Simplified CMA

This topic describes how to install a simplified cable management arm (CMA) in a cabinet.

Operation Scenario

Install a simplified CMA in a cabinet.


  • Phillips screwdriver: used to tighten screws.
  • ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves: used to prevent electrostatic buildup that could otherwise damage electrostatic-sensitive components.


  1. Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves.
  2. Take the CMA out of its ESD bag.
  3. Install a cage nut in the middle mounting hole in the 1U distance on each post. See (1) in ‎Figure 3-15.

    There are three mounting holes in each 1U interval.

  4. Align both ends of the CMA with the two cages nuts. See (2) in Figure 3-15.
  5. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the screws. see (3) in ‎Figure 3-15.
