This topic describes the precautions for connecting cables.

NOTICE:

Before connecting power cables to the devices in a rack, ensure that the power distribution cabinet (PDC) in the equipment room and the power distribution box (PDB) in the rack are switched off.

Table 3-4 describes the precautions for connecting an AC power cable, high-density cable, and data cable to the chassis in a rack.

Task

Description

Connecting a power cable

Determine the output wiring terminal of the PDB.

Connecting a high-density cable

Locate the high-density port on the front panel of a server node and understand the method of connecting a high-density cable.

Connecting Ethernet cables to service and management network ports

Understand the mapping between server nodes and service and management network ports at the rear of the chassis.

Connecting a converged management network cable

Understand the mapping between the management network port on the management module or chassis mounting ear and upper-layer switch ports.

Laying out cables

Route all cables along the inner side of each cable trough for the rack. Bind the cables along the inner sides of the mounting bars on both sides of the rack. For details, see Laying Out Cables.

Verifying cable connections

Check that all cables are correctly connected and connectors are securely inserted.
