Connecting a Power Cable to a PSU

This topic describes the precautions and method of connecting a power cable to a power supply unit (PSU).

Precautions

  • Connect power cables securely and maintain sufficient slack for the power cables.
  • To ensure device and personal safety, use power cables supported by the server.
  • The power cables are used only for the X6800. Do not use the power cables for other devices.
  • To ensure device and personal safety, use a power cable with a ground plug and insert the power cable into a socket that is properly grounded.
  • Use power cables that support a maximum current of 10 A and comply with IEC 320/C13-C14.

Procedure

  1. Connect a power cable to a PSU.

    • Connect an AC or HV DC power cable.
    NOTE:

Use a dedicated power cable to connect a 380 V HV DC PSU.

    1. Connect one end of the power cable to the PSU. See Figure 3-16.
Figure 3-16 Connecting an AC or HV DC power cable

    2. Connect the other end of the power cable to the busbar of the rack.

The busbar is horizontally secured at the rear of the rack. Connect the power cable to the nearest jack in the busbar.

    • Connect DC power cables.
      1. Optional: Connect one end of the ground cable to the ground port on the PSU and the other end to the ground port on the rack. See step (1) in Figure 3-17.
      2. Connect one end of the negative electrode to the NEG(-) wiring terminal on the PSU and the other end to the NEG(-) wiring terminal on the power supply in the rack. See step (2) in Figure 3-17.
      3. Connect one end of the positive electrode to the RTN(+) wiring terminal on the PSU and the other end to the RTN(+) wiring terminal on the power supply in the rack. See step (3) in Figure 3-17.
