Connecting a High-Density Cable

This topic describes how to connect a high-density cable to a server node.

Introduction to a High-Density Cable

Use a high-density cable to connect a client or USB device to a server node in the chassis.

The server node provides a high-density port, which can be connected to a high-density cable. The high-density cable has the following connectors on one end:

  • One DB-15 VGA video connector
  • One RJ45 serial port
  • Three USB 2.0 (compatible with USB 1.1) ports

Procedure

  1. Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves.
  2. Hold down the tabs on the high-density connector on a high-density cable. See step (1) in Figure 3-19.
  3. Align the connector with the high-density port on the server node panel, and insert the connector into the port gently. Ensure that the high-density cable is securely connected. See step (2) in Figure 3-19.
