Verifying Cable Connections

This topic describes how to verify cable connections.

Operation Scenario

Verify cable connections in any of the following scenarios:

  • You need to check cable connections during routine maintenance.
  • You need to check cable connections during troubleshooting.


To avoid device damage or personal injury, ensure that the chassis is powered off and the rack busbar is switched off before verification.


  1. Check that all cables are of correct types.
  2. Check that the cable length is appropriate.
  3. Check that the cables around the connectors are not twisted.
  4. Check that all cables are laid out as required.
  5. Check that the power cables, ground cable, high-density cables, and network cables are properly connected. For details, see Table 3-5.

    Table 3-5 Cable connection checklist

    Check Item


    Power cables

    • All power cables are properly connected to power supply units (PSUs).
    • Power cables are securely connected.

    Ground cable

    The ground cable is properly connected to the ground bar of the rack.

    High-density cables

    • High-density cables are properly connected to the high-density ports on server nodes.
    • High-density cables are securely connected.

    Network cables

    Network cables are correctly connected to the specified management or service network port.
